Nestle Malaysia Reviewing Possible Ice Cream Business Sale to Froneri Following Global Strategic Move
KUALA LUMPUR — Nestle (Malaysia) Berhad is reviewing the potential disposal of its ice cream business to Froneri, following developments involving its parent company, Nestle SA.
In a filing to Bursa Malaysia, the company said it has begun a process to evaluate the possible transaction after Nestle SA entered advanced negotiations with Froneri to sell the remaining portion of its global ice cream operations.
Nestle Malaysia said the evaluation will involve a comprehensive review of all relevant aspects.
The company added that it will also engage with relevant local stakeholders as part of the process.
All applicable legal, regulatory, and governance requirements will be strictly followed before any final decision is made.
The move reflects the company’s careful approach in assessing its long-term business strategy.
Froneri was established approximately 10 years ago as a joint venture between Nestle SA and private equity firm PAI Partners.
Under the joint venture, Nestle’s European ice cream business and selected global operations were transferred to Froneri.
Nestle Malaysia said its local ice cream operations were not part of the original agreement.
This means the current review represents a new development involving the Malaysian subsidiary.
The company said further announcements will be made if there are any significant developments.
Meanwhile, Nestle Malaysia shares rose by 20 sen to close at RM109.50 at 5pm, with 48,600 shares traded.
The share price movement indicates investor interest in the company’s latest development.
The potential transaction is seen as part of Nestle’s global effort to restructure its ice cream business portfolio.
Any final decision could influence Nestle Malaysia’s future business direction.
