Amirudin engages in dialogue, welcomes feedback on unapproved places of worship issue
SHAH ALAM, Feb 18 — Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari has taken an open and consultative approach in addressing concerns over places of worship constructed without proper approval, engaging directly with critics to hear their views.
Syariah lawyer Zainul Rijal Abu Bakar said the meeting, initiated by Amirudin himself, reflected the state leader’s willingness to listen and engage in constructive discussion.
He said the session was conducted in a respectful and professional manner, allowing both sides to exchange opinions and clarify previous statements related to the matter.
“The important thing is that he showed readiness to listen and consider the feedback and suggestions presented,” he said.
Zainul Rijal expressed hope that the discussion would lead to further action to resolve the issue appropriately and in accordance with legal provisions.
Meanwhile, Amirudin said he personally reached out to Zainul Rijal after reviewing various public reactions following the Selangor State National Security Council meeting.
He said he believed a direct meeting would help clear misunderstandings and provide better clarity on the issue.
According to Amirudin, the discussion was informal yet meaningful, offering useful perspectives.
He added that the state government values feedback from all stakeholders and views open dialogue as essential in decision-making.
Amirudin also expressed confidence that mature discussions would help ensure the matter is managed carefully and fairly.
Earlier reports said Zainul Rijal had raised questions regarding Amirudin’s remarks on places of worship built without approval, highlighting concerns related to legal rights and property ownership.
