Bersatu Regains Control of Facebook Page After Internal Breach Targeting Muhyiddin

KUALA LUMPUR – Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia has restored full access to its official Facebook account after it was compromised and used to publish posts criticising party president Muhyiddin Yassin.

Bersatu Youth information chief Harris Idaham Rashid confirmed that the party regained control of the account at 12.41am following a breach that lasted nearly 15 hours.

The unauthorised activity was first detected at approximately 8.54am on February 14. During the incident, 21 posts were uploaded by one of the account’s administrators.

The content reportedly portrayed former deputy president Hamzah Zainudin in a favourable light while criticising the party’s current leadership.

Administrator Removed, Security Tightened

Harris stated that the administrator responsible has since been removed and management rights returned to authorised officials.

He characterised the incident as evidence of internal sabotage by a small faction within the party, warning of “enemies within” attempting to undermine leadership stability.

The youth wing expressed appreciation to members who assisted in restoring the account and safeguarding party interests.

Tensions Follow Leadership Shake-Up

The digital breach occurred shortly after Hamzah’s dismissal from the party, a move that has intensified internal tensions.

Observers note that the incident reflects the broader leadership crisis currently unfolding within Bersatu, as divisions within party ranks become increasingly visible.

While no legal action has been publicly announced, party leaders indicated that cybersecurity measures will be strengthened to prevent similar incidents in the future.
