UM Initiates Internal Probe Into Senior Lecturer Over Alleged Freemason Affiliation
KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 12 — Universiti Malaya (UM) has confirmed that it has launched an internal investigation following social media allegations claiming that a senior lecturer is linked to the Freemasons.
In a statement issued today, the university said the inquiry is intended to thoroughly examine the claims and establish the full facts before any determination is made.
UM stressed that the investigation will be conducted in a professional and transparent manner, in strict accordance with the law and university regulations.
“The university is committed to ensuring that all matters raised are assessed fairly and in line with established procedures,” the statement read.
The institution added that it will safeguard the integrity of its processes and the welfare of all individuals involved throughout the investigation.
Public Urged to Avoid Speculation
UM also called on the public to refrain from making assumptions or sharing unverified information that could distort perceptions or harm reputations.
The university warned that the circulation of unconfirmed claims may interfere with the integrity of the investigative process.
“The public is urged to allow the university the necessary space to carry out its investigation without external pressure,” it said.
Reaffirming its dedication to ethical conduct and responsible governance, UM said it will address the matter in accordance with institutional standards and due process.
