Bersatu Disciplinary Board to Question Hamzah on Thursday Over AGM Disruption
KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 8 — Bersatu deputy president Hamzah Zainudin has been summoned to appear before the party’s disciplinary board this Thursday in connection with allegations surrounding disruptions at the party’s annual general assembly (AGM) last September.
Hamzah, who is also the Opposition Leader and the Larut Member of Parliament, is scheduled to give his statement at noon on February 12 at Bersatu’s headquarters here, according to local media reports citing party sources.
A notice signed by Bersatu disciplinary board chairman Datuk Mohd Radzi Manan reportedly lists four complaints against Hamzah. Among the key allegations is that he failed to prevent party leaders from issuing statements that attacked party president Muhyiddin Yassin, allegedly damaging Bersatu’s image and internal unity.
He is also accused of engaging in unauthorised negotiations with the president of a Perikatan Nasional component party without the knowledge or approval of Bersatu’s top leadership.
In addition, Hamzah is alleged to have publicly claimed that he was not invited to a party meeting on January 28, a statement which, according to the complaint, undermined Muhyiddin’s standing as party president.
The disciplinary proceedings are seen as a significant test for Bersatu’s leadership as the party seeks to address internal tensions and reinforce discipline amid an increasingly complex political landscape.
