Anwar Denies Any Link to Epstein-Related Emails, Says He Has No Involvement
KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 2, 2026 — Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has firmly denied any connection to emails linked to the Jeffrey Epstein case, after his name surfaced in documents that recently circulated online.
Anwar said he only became aware of the matter on Sunday and was surprised to learn that certain individuals had used his name in communications that had no direct involvement from him.
In a statement shared on his social media platforms, he explained that external parties had attempted to associate him with the email exchanges.
“Only today did I find out that some outsiders wanted to meet and even mentioned my name in emails related to the Epstein case,” he said.
He stressed that the emails referred to events that took place more than a decade ago and had no connection whatsoever to him.
“Alhamdulillah, it has been more than 10 years, and I have absolutely no link to any of the parties involved, especially Epstein,” he added.
Anwar also included laughing and angry emojis in his post and used the hashtag #DoneExplain to underline his clear position on the matter.
He said the issue would not affect his personal schedule and that he would proceed with his planned activities in Johor Bahru.
His remarks came amid renewed online discussions following the resurfacing of the emails, which triggered speculation on social media platforms.
The Prime Minister reiterated that he has never had any dealings or personal connections with individuals linked to the case.
The Epstein scandal involved US financier Jeffrey Epstein, who was accused of operating an international network of sexual abuse and trafficking of minors before his death in 2019.
Anwar urged the public to avoid spreading unverified information and to exercise caution when interpreting sensitive issues circulating online.
