Steel Silk Road at 10: Jiangxi’s China-Europe Railway Express Powers Trade, Innovation and Belt & Road Cooperation

NANCHANG: The China-Europe Railway Express originating from Jiangxi has reached its tenth anniversary, marking a decade of transformation in international logistics, trade connectivity and economic opportunity for the province.

Since the first departure in 2015, the line has operated thousands of journeys, benefiting more than 300 local companies and significantly expanding Jiangxi’s export capabilities. The corridor now serves as a key bridge for delivering “Made in Jiangxi” products — from iconic Jingdezhen porcelain to electronics and household goods — to over 20 destinations across Asia and Europe.

Witnessing this journey firsthand, inaugural train driver Li Jian said the service has grown from humble beginnings into a powerful global link, symbolising Jiangxi’s widening engagement with the world.

To sustain momentum, Jiangxi is investing in smart logistics hubs, upgraded port infrastructure and stronger cross-border e-commerce networks. The railway has evolved into a strategic “Steel Silk Road,” reinforcing the province’s ambition to become a dynamic inland gateway for international cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative.
