Zizi Kirana Says Marriage Remains a Meaningful Chapter Despite Divorce

PETALING JAYA: Singer Zizi Kirana has spoken candidly about her personal journey following the end of her marriage, saying she has never viewed the relationship as a regret despite its eventual conclusion in divorce.

Speaking during an appearance on the Confession Bilik Gelap podcast, the singer said the experience has become one of the most significant lessons of her life, teaching her the importance of acceptance, faith and emotional resilience.

According to Zizi, marriage was part of her life’s journey and she believes every experience carries its own purpose. Rather than focusing on disappointment, she chooses to see the episode as a test that strengthened her spiritually and emotionally.

She said the experience taught her to accept that everything in life is temporary and that people sometimes have to let go of those they love, trusting that every trial carries wisdom beyond what can immediately be understood.

Reflecting on the emotional challenges she faced, Zizi revealed that the healing process had begun long before her divorce was officially finalised. She explained that she spent approximately a year and a half coming to terms with the situation, allowing her to face the legal proceedings with greater composure.

The singer acknowledged that there was a period when the emotional burden became overwhelming, affecting both her personal well-being and her ability to continue working. However, she said those difficult moments gradually gave way to acceptance as she focused on rebuilding herself.

Zizi shared that her outlook has changed over time, saying she has learned to embrace life’s challenges with greater patience while believing that every hardship is accompanied by valuable lessons and eventual relief.

She also addressed public reactions to her calm appearance during the divorce proceedings, explaining that many people only witnessed the final stage of a much longer emotional journey.

Beyond sharing her own experience, Zizi encouraged the public to be more compassionate when discussing other people’s marriages, noting that every individual faces different circumstances that may not be visible to outsiders.

She said relationships are deeply personal, and only those directly involved truly understand the challenges they have experienced. As such, she urged people to avoid making assumptions or passing judgement based solely on public perception.

For the singer, the end of her marriage marks not the end of her journey, but the beginning of a new chapter shaped by greater emotional maturity, acceptance and appreciation for life’s experiences.

Zizi Kirana and actor Yusuf Bahrin officially divorced with a single pronouncement of talak at the Petaling Jaya Syariah Lower Court on 2 April. The couple married in September 2021 and did not have children during their marriage.
