Chegubard Ready to Contest Negeri Sembilan Polls if Given Party’s Trust
PORT DICKSON: Political activist Badrul Hisham Shaharin, better known as Chegubard, says he is prepared to contest in the upcoming Negeri Sembilan state election if entrusted by the leadership of Parti Wawasan Negara (Wawasan).
The chief protem of Wawasan Negeri Sembilan said he is leaving the matter entirely to the party leadership and is willing to accept any role assigned to him.
According to him, whether he contests or not is secondary, as his priority is to serve the party and strengthen political cooperation within the state.
“I can contest or choose not to contest. I am a party man and I will abide by whatever decision is made by the leadership.
“If the party asks me to contest in Gemas, I will contest in Gemas. If I am assigned to Port Dickson, I will contest there as well,” he told reporters at a Wawasan Negeri Sembilan press conference here today.
He said discussions on seat allocations are still ongoing and any decision will depend on the outcome of negotiations with other political players.
Chegubard stressed that Wawasan’s primary objective is not to secure as many seats as possible but to unite parties outside the ruling coalition in order to offer voters a stronger political alternative.
“Our focus is not on fighting for seats or competing over numbers.
“What matters more is ensuring that all parties can work together to form a stable and strong state government,” he said.
Badrul Hisham, who is also a leader of the Gerakan Reset Negeri Sembilan movement, said the party is committed to promoting political stability and presenting fresh options to voters.
He dismissed claims that Wawasan was established to split opposition votes or disrupt the existing political balance.
Instead, he said the party aims to play a constructive role in strengthening democracy and broadening political choices for the people.
“Wawasan was not created to split votes.
“We want to be part of the effort to build political stability, not only in Negeri Sembilan but also at the national level,” he said.
He added that any decisions on political cooperation and seat distribution would ultimately be guided by the interests of the people and the goal of forming a more effective administration after the election.
