Bandung Remains a Textile Paradise: Our Experience Buying Quality Suits and Fabrics at Modis Cihampelas
BANDUNG, Indonesia – Bandung has long been regarded as one of Southeast Asia’s premier shopping destinations, particularly for visitors seeking quality textiles, fashion products and custom-made clothing at competitive prices.
During a recent working visit to Bandung, the Our team had the opportunity to visit one of Modis’textile branches located along Jalan Cihampelas, one of the city’s most popular shopping districts.
What began as a brief stop to explore the fabrics on offer quickly turned into an unexpected shopping experience.
After browsing through the extensive range of materials available, this writer decided to purchase two suits, while a colleague also selected two suits for professional use. In addition, a custom-designed outfit was commissioned using premium fabrics chosen directly from the store’s collection.
Based on our observations, Modis’ greatest strength lies in its ability to combine quality, variety and affordability.
For customers who regularly tailor business attire or formal wear, fabric quality is often one of the most important factors influencing the final cost of a garment. At Modis, however, we found a broad selection of quality fabrics offered at prices that represented excellent value for money.
The store carries a diverse range of materials suitable for business suits, blazers, formal trousers, evening wear and custom-made garments for both men and women.
Equally impressive was the level of service provided by the staff, who took the time to explain the characteristics of different fabrics, their recommended uses and the options available based on individual customer preferences.
Expanding Presence in Bandung
Modis has continued to strengthen its presence in Bandung’s textile market. In addition to its existing outlets, the company officially opened a wholesale fabric outlet at Level 2 of Pasar Baru Trade Center (PBTC) on 16 August 2024.
The opening ceremony was officiated by owner Troy Sunjaya, accompanied by Operations Director Irwin Tan and Marketing Director of PT Dam Sawarga Maniloka Jaya (DSMJ), Untung BW.
The new outlet further expands the range of textile and fashion options available at Pasar Baru Trade Center, one of Bandung’s most established shopping destinations for fabrics, garments and wholesale products.
Bandung Continues to Be a Preferred Textile Destination
For decades, Bandung has been recognised as Indonesia’s textile and fashion capital. It remains a favourite destination for Malaysian travellers looking to purchase fabrics, tailored clothing and fashion products at attractive prices.
Jalan Cihampelas, in particular, is one of the city’s most vibrant commercial areas, attracting both local shoppers and international visitors. The district offers a wide variety of fashion outlets, textile retailers and specialty stores, making it a popular stop for anyone interested in clothing and fabric shopping.
Despite the rapid growth of e-commerce and modern shopping malls, Bandung continues to maintain its reputation as a leading textile hub. Many shoppers still prefer the experience of seeing, touching and comparing fabrics in person before making a purchase, especially when ordering custom-made garments.
A Worthwhile Stop for Malaysian Travellers
For Malaysians planning a trip to Bandung, particularly those searching for quality fabrics for business attire, formal occasions or bespoke designs, Modis is a destination worth considering.
Whether visiting the Jalan Cihampelas branch or the newer wholesale outlet at Pasar Baru Trade Center, customers can expect a broad selection of fabrics, attentive service and competitive pricing.
Based on our firsthand experience, the combination of extensive fabric choices, satisfactory quality and excellent value made the visit both enjoyable and worthwhile.
Sometimes the best travel discoveries are not the attractions featured in guidebooks, but the places that deliver genuine value and memorable experiences. During our visit to Bandung, Modis textile proved to be one of those discoveries, reinforcing why the city remains one of the region’s most popular destinations for textile and fashion shopping.
