PM Anwar Returns To Permatang Pauh Ahead Of Aidiladha Celebration

GEORGE TOWN: Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim returned to his hometown in Permatang Pauh today for a brief working visit ahead of the Aidiladha celebration.

Anwar Ibrahim, who also serves as Finance Minister, is scheduled to present sacrificial cows to communities within the Permatang Pauh parliamentary constituency and the Seberang Jaya state constituency.

The presentation ceremony is set to take place at Masjid Daerah Seberang Perai Tengah at 2pm.

The former Permatang Pauh MP will later continue his programme at his home village, where he is expected to hand over sacrificial cows to residents in the Permatang Pasir state constituency.

The event will be held at Masjid Al-Falah in Pengkalan Tambang.

The visit is scheduled to conclude with another sacrificial cow presentation ceremony for the Penanti state constituency community at Padang Mengkuang Titi at around 3.45pm before the prime minister returns to Kuala Lumpur.

Anwar Ibrahim’s return to Permatang Pauh ahead of Aidiladha is seen as part of efforts to engage with local communities while continuing the tradition of distributing sacrificial animals to residents in the area.

Aidiladha, which will be celebrated by Muslims across Malaysia tomorrow, is closely associated with the spirit of sacrifice, charity and community solidarity.
