PKR Appoints Amirudin Shari To Replace Nurul Izzah As Co-Election Director

KUALA LUMPUR: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) has appointed vice-president Amirudin Shari as the party’s new co-election director, replacing deputy president Nurul Izzah Anwar.

Under the new arrangement, Amirudin Shari will work alongside Saifuddin Nasution Ismail in overseeing PKR’s election preparations ahead of the next general election.

PKR secretary-general Fuziah Salleh said the reshuffle was approved by the party’s political bureau as part of a strategic realignment aimed at streamlining operations and strengthening coordination within the election machinery.

She explained that Nurul Izzah Anwar would continue playing a significant strategic role within the party by focusing specifically on enhancing PKR’s grassroots election machinery and improving workflow systems.

“In this next phase, Nurul Izzah will continue to contribute strategically by concentrating on strengthening PKR’s election machinery capabilities and organisational workflow.

“This effort reflects the party’s continued investment in grassroots empowerment to ensure PKR’s strength is developed holistically and sustainably at every level,” she said in a statement.

Nurul Izzah Anwar was previously appointed co-election director together with Saifuddin Nasution Ismail in June last year after defeating Rafizi Ramli in the party’s deputy presidential contest.

The latest restructuring comes shortly after Rafizi Ramli officially left PKR earlier this month before taking over the leadership of Parti Bersama Malaysia (Bersama).

At the same time, Fuziah Salleh also announced the appointment of Federal Territories PKR chief Azman Abidin as director of the party’s election war room.

Azman Abidin, who currently serves as political secretary to PKR president and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, will be assisted by Ruji Ubi.

The duo will oversee election strategies, coordinate grassroots operations and monitor workflow efficiency across the party’s machinery nationwide.

According to Fuziah Salleh, PKR’s strength does not solely depend on its central leadership but is also rooted in the commitment of thousands of grassroots members throughout the country.

She also revealed that 5,936 new members joined PKR between April and May this year.

“PKR is now entering a new phase with the determination to strengthen internal unity, empower grassroots capabilities and ensure the party machinery moves cohesively as one team in preparation for the next general election,” she added.
