AMK Perlis Ready for Possible State Poll Amid Growing Political Crisis

KANGAR: Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK) Perlis has declared that its party machinery is on full alert amid the possibility of a state election should the Perlis State Legislative Assembly be dissolved following the worsening political tensions within the state government.

Its chief, Ahmad Azzin Izzad Bahanudin said the youth wing is closely monitoring the ongoing internal turmoil within Perikatan Nasional (PN) in Perlis, which has become increasingly public in recent weeks.

According to him, the growing friction between Parti Islam Se-Malaysia (Pas) and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) has created uncertainty over the stability of the state administration.

“The people can clearly see how internal power struggles and political disputes within the ruling coalition are affecting the stability of the state government.

“AMK Perlis is fully prepared to face any eventuality, including a state election should the legislative assembly be dissolved,” he said in a statement today.

No-Confidence Motion Fuels Speculation

The political situation in Perlis intensified after Menteri Besar Abu Bakar Hamzah recently warned that the state assembly could be dissolved if six Pas assemblymen proceed with plans to table a motion of no confidence against him.

The Perlis state assembly sitting is scheduled to take place from June 3 to June 5, with the issue sparking widespread speculation over the future of the state government.

Ahmad Azzin Izzad Bahanudin said the situation reflected the inability of Perikatan Nasional to maintain political stability despite only governing the state for a relatively short period.

He said the public expects a stable administration focused on welfare, economic growth and development instead of ongoing political disputes among coalition partners.

Party Machinery Remains Focused

Meanwhile, Ahmad Azzin Izzad Bahanudin also expressed support for national AMK chief Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim, who recently called on party members to remain united and continue strengthening grassroots operations nationwide.

He stressed that recent departures involving several individuals from Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) have not disrupted the movement or preparations of the party in Perlis.

“Our machinery remains active in engaging with the people while continuing preparations for the next election.

“We remain focused on championing public issues and ensuring that the party organisation remains strong and fully prepared,” he said.

He added that AMK Perlis will continue intensifying grassroots programmes and youth engagement efforts as part of the party’s long-term political strategy in the state.
