Hakim Danish Dominates Catalunya GP Practice Sessions With Fastest Overall Time
PETALING JAYA: Hakim Danish Ramli continued his impressive run in Moto3 competition after emerging as the fastest rider in both practice sessions at the Catalunya Motorcycle Grand Prix in Barcelona today.
Representing AEON Credit-MT Helmets-MSI, the Malaysian rider opened the weekend strongly by topping the first free practice session (FP1) with a fastest lap time of 1 minute 47.478 seconds.
He maintained the momentum during the official practice session by improving his pace further and once again finishing at the top with a lap time of 1:46.943 seconds.
More notably, Hakim Danish Ramli was the only rider throughout the sessions to break the 1 minute 47 second barrier at the Catalunya circuit.
Red Bull KTM Ajo rider Brian Uriarte secured second place with a lap time of 1:47.042 seconds, while Leopard Racing rider Adrian Fernandez finished third after recording 1:47.146 seconds.
The strong showing automatically secured Hakim Danish a place in tomorrow’s Q2 qualifying session.
The Terengganu-born rider said his confidence continued to improve after finding better compatibility with the motorcycle throughout the practice sessions.
According to him, he initially struggled with grip issues during the morning session, but several setup adjustments gradually improved the bike’s performance.
“This morning the bike lacked some grip, so I tried to adapt my riding style and physical movement to the track conditions.
“We tested several solutions and the lap times became better afterwards,” he said in a statement today.
Hakim Danish explained that the official practice session felt smoother as he managed to carry over the positive momentum from FP1 while gaining more confidence on every lap.
He added that a final “time attack” attempt near the end of the session ultimately helped him secure the fastest overall time.
“In the final minutes I attempted a time attack and thankfully managed to get the best lap time. But I cannot become too confident because the other riders will definitely improve tomorrow.
“I will continue searching for even better pace for qualifying,” he said.
The strong performance provides a positive boost for the Malaysian camp ahead of the qualifying session and the Catalunya GP main race scheduled for Sunday.
The achievement also further strengthens Hakim Danish Ramli’s growing reputation as one of Malaysia’s rising young talents in international motorcycle racing this season.
