New UMW HVMP Road Project Expected to Improve Industrial Access and Ease Congestion

RAWANG: The government is continuing efforts to strengthen the country’s infrastructure network through the completion and handover of a new road project connecting Federal Road FT3208 to Jalan 132 Kaki within the UMW High Value Manufacturing Park (UMW HVMP) area.

Deputy Works Minister Ahmad Maslan said the RM78.8 million project was implemented to improve access to industrial zones while reducing growing traffic congestion in Serendah and surrounding areas.

According to him, the rapid industrial development taking place in the area has increased the need for a more efficient, safer and higher-capacity road network.

“The project is expected to provide more direct and efficient access to industrial areas while helping to reduce traffic congestion along existing routes,” he said during the handover ceremony for the new road project at UMW High Value Manufacturing Park today.

He added that the project is also expected to improve road safety for users while strengthening industrial investment attractiveness in the Hulu Selangor region.

According to Ahmad, the implementation of the project reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring infrastructure development keeps pace with economic growth and the expansion of Malaysia’s industrial sector.

He said the government remains focused on improving essential infrastructure capable of supporting economic activities while facilitating logistics and transportation movement.

Ahmad added that the successful completion of the project demonstrated strong collaboration between the government, implementing agencies, contractors and other stakeholders involved throughout the construction process.

He noted that high-quality infrastructure development is crucial in ensuring industrial areas continue growing in a more sustainable and competitive manner.

“The government will continue strengthening quality, safe and sustainable road infrastructure development to meet the needs of the people and support the nation’s development agenda,” he said.

The development of UMW High Value Manufacturing Park has previously been viewed as one of the new economic growth drivers in northern Selangor following increasing manufacturing activities and high-technology industrial investments in the area.

The new road is expected to improve traffic flow for industrial vehicles entering and exiting the area while reducing pressure on existing roads frequently used by local residents and industrial workers.

Beyond economic benefits, the project is also expected to provide long-term advantages to surrounding communities through a more organised, safer and future-ready road system.
