Pekan UMNO Youth Calls for Thorough Probe Into Alleged Insults Against Pahang Crown Prince
PEKAN: Pemuda UMNO Bahagian Pekan has urged authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into individuals or social media accounts allegedly insulting the Pahang Crown Prince, Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah.
As a sign of protest against the alleged actions, a police report was lodged today at Pekan District Police Headquarters.
Pekan UMNO Youth chief Mohd. Fakhrul Akhmal Mohamed said acts mocking the royal institution on social media should not be tolerated as they could affect public harmony and national stability.
According to him, the Malay Rulers institution holds an important position in the country and must be respected by all parties regardless of background.
“We want the authorities to take immediate and firm action against any individual found to be involved.
“We also hope investigations will be conducted transparently in accordance with existing laws,” he said after lodging the police report today.
Mohd. Fakhrul added that heavier punishments should be considered to ensure insults against the royal institution are not repeated in the future.
He said firm action is important to prevent the issue from becoming more sensitive and potentially creating tension within society.
According to him, social media should not be used as a platform to spread provocative content or insults directed at national institutions.
He stressed that all parties must use digital platforms responsibly and maintain proper conduct when discussing matters involving the royal institution.
The issue drew public attention after several social media posts allegedly containing insulting remarks about the Pahang Crown Prince began circulating widely online in recent days.
