PETALING JAYA: Amateur golfer Mohd. Hizarudin Johari emerged as one of the standout performers at the Perodua National Amateur Golf Series (PNAGS) Melaka qualifying tournament after achieving the first Hole-In-One of his career at A’Famosa Golf Resort recently.

The achievement became even more special as it came after nearly 18 years of active involvement in amateur golf.

The golfer from Kluang, Johor, who plays off a 15 handicap, produced the remarkable shot at Hole 12 of the Palm Course, a Par 3 measuring approximately 159 metres, with the ball landing perfectly into the cup.

The memorable moment earned him exclusive rewards including return flight tickets for two aboard AirAsia from Kuala Lumpur to Macau as well as a luxury Iroas wristwatch valued at RM3,600.

PNAGS organising chairman Lokman Ishak said Mohd. Hizarudin’s achievement reflected the dedication and determination of Malaysian amateur golfers striving to improve their performance.

“A Hole-In-One is an extremely difficult achievement because it requires precision, focus and a touch of luck.

“This success will surely remain one of Mohd. Hizarudin’s sweetest memories after years of involvement in golf,” he said.

According to him, the last Hole-In-One recorded at a PNAGS tournament occurred during the 2023 Selangor qualifying round at Kota Permai Golf & Country Club.

In the same tournament, Mohd. Firdaus Sabri captured the Gross Champion title after producing a consistent 76 gross performance throughout the competition.

They will represent Melaka at the PNAGS National Final 2026 alongside champions from 14 other states in the battle to determine the country’s top amateur golfer.

The prize presentation ceremony was officiated by Asmat Kamaludin, chairman of Perodua.

Meanwhile, Isac Saminathan, president of the World Amateur Golfers Championship (WAGC), said Malaysia is set to host the 2026 WAGC World Final at Desaru Coast involving more than 650 golfers from 50 countries.
