Padini Clarifies MACC Detainees Not Part Of Company Management

KUALA LUMPUR — Padini Holdings Berhad has clarified that individuals detained by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission in investigations involving the company and several subsidiaries are not linked to its workforce or management team.

In a statement issued today, the fashion retailer addressed media reports regarding the detention of eight individuals connected to an ongoing MACC investigation tied to several frozen bank accounts belonging to Padini and its subsidiaries.

The company stressed that none of those detained are employees, officers or members of Padini’s management.

“Padini wishes to clarify that none of the individuals detained are its employees, officers or members of its management,” the company said.

Company Pledges Full Cooperation

Padini also reaffirmed its commitment to cooperating fully with the anti-graft agency throughout the investigation process.

The company said it would continue providing the necessary assistance required by authorities as investigations remain ongoing.

Earlier today, local media reported that the MACC had detained eight individuals to assist in probes related to the freezing of several bank accounts associated with Padini and its subsidiaries.

However, details regarding the identities of the detainees and the nature of the investigation have not been publicly disclosed.

Attention Focused On Corporate Governance

The case has attracted public attention due to the involvement of one of Malaysia’s best-known fashion retail groups.

Industry observers said the clarification issued by Padini Holdings Berhad was aimed at addressing speculation surrounding the company’s internal management and operations following reports of the detentions.

The MACC has yet to release further information regarding the scope of the investigation or possible next steps in the case.
