Flash Floods Leave Vehicles Stranded Across Kuchai Lama And Nearby Routes

PETALING JAYA — Flash floods caused by heavy afternoon rain left several vehicles stranded in multiple areas around Kuala Lumpur, including major routes near Jalan Kuchai Lama.

Two vehicles were reported trapped along the road heading towards Jalan Klang Lama after floodwaters rose rapidly and submerged parts of the route.

Another vehicle was also believed to have stalled inside a flooded tunnel along the Kuala Lumpur-Seremban Highway heading towards Sri Petaling.

Several Roads Hit By Rising Water

The Kuala Lumpur Operations Control Centre said monitoring at affected areas confirmed that several roads experienced severe water accumulation during the downpour.

Authorities said the incidents only involved flooding and stranded vehicles, with no injuries or fatalities reported.

One of the worst-hit locations was Taman OUG, particularly Jalan Awan Kecil, where five cars were reportedly trapped due to the sudden flash flood.

Emergency responders received a distress call at around 4.23pm before personnel from Balai Bomba dan Penyelamat Sri Petaling arrived at the scene several minutes later.

Traffic Disruption Across Klang Valley

The heavy rain also caused traffic congestion in several parts of Kuala Lumpur and the Klang Valley as floodwaters affected key roads and expressways during peak hours.

Motorists were advised to avoid flooded routes, remain cautious while driving and monitor updates from authorities regarding road conditions.

Officials also reminded the public not to attempt crossing floodwaters, especially in areas with rapidly rising water levels.

Authorities continue monitoring the affected areas as water levels gradually recede following the evening downpour.
