Negeri Sembilan Umno Stands By Decision Against MB, Continues Backing State Administration

KUALA LUMPUR — United Malays National Organisation Negeri Sembilan has reaffirmed that its 14 state assemblymen will remain within the current state administration despite continuing to withhold support for Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun.

State Umno secretary Mustapha Nagoor said the party accepts the decision by the national leadership to maintain cooperation with the unity government in Negeri Sembilan.

He explained that the matter had been discussed and decided by Umno’s political bureau together with the Umno–Pakatan Harapan leadership consultative platform.

Public Service Remains Priority

According to Mustapha, all Umno assemblymen in the state will continue performing their duties and serving constituents as part of the existing government structure.

However, he stressed that Negeri Sembilan Umno still maintains its stance of no confidence towards Aminuddin due to what the party described as shortcomings in handling a major crisis involving the state’s adat institutions.

He claimed the issue had indirectly affected public trust in Negeri Sembilan’s traditional institutions and constitutional framework.

“Our position regarding the Menteri Besar remains unchanged following the crisis that has impacted confidence in the state’s adat system and constitution,” he said.

Urges Calm and Respect for Adat Institutions

Mustapha also called on the public to refrain from making inflammatory remarks or statements that could worsen tensions surrounding the issue.

He expressed hope that the matter would be resolved peacefully and in accordance with the Negeri Sembilan constitution as well as long-established adat procedures.

The ongoing controversy is linked to disputes involving the state’s customary leadership structure and traditional governance processes.

Leadership Confirms Political Stability

Meanwhile, Fahmi Fadzil said the state government would continue operating under Aminuddin’s leadership after discussions involving top leaders from Umno and Pakatan Harapan.

Previously, Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi announced that the party’s central leadership had agreed for all 14 Negeri Sembilan Umno assemblymen to remain part of the state administration.

The latest development is seen as an effort to preserve political stability in Negeri Sembilan while internal issues continue to be addressed through party and constitutional channels.
