DAP Rejects ‘Backdoor’ Government in Negeri Sembilan, Insists on Constitutional Process

SEREMBAN, April 27 — Anthony Loke Siew Fook has firmly rejected any attempt to form a “backdoor government” in Negeri Sembilan, stressing that any change in administration must strictly follow constitutional and legislative procedures.

The secretary-general of Democratic Action Party (DAP) said efforts to establish an alternative government outside the current administration would disregard the mandate given by voters in the last state election.

Pakatan Harapan was clearly entrusted by the people to govern. Any move to replace the government without going through proper legislative channels would undermine that mandate,” he said during a press conference at the Menteri Besar’s official residence.

Loke emphasised that any challenge to the position of Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun must be tested within the Dewan Undangan Negeri (DUN), either through a vote of no confidence or by rejecting the state budget.

He pointed out that the scheduled DUN sitting had been postponed despite assemblymen preparing to attend, adding that he was only later informed the adjournment followed a request from UMNO leaders.

“I had cleared my schedule for the sitting, but it was suddenly postponed. The explanation came later that there was a request to defer it,” he said.
