PM Urges Patience Over Negeri Sembilan Political Crisis, Says Statement Will Follow

KUALA LUMPUR, April 27 — Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has called for patience amid the unfolding political situation in Negeri Sembilan, saying an official response will be made after further clarification by the state leadership.

Speaking briefly to reporters, Anwar said the matter should be addressed by Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun and the Pakatan Harapan (PH) leadership at an appropriate time.

“The Menteri Besar and PH will make an announcement later,” he said following an event at The Exchange 106 in the Tun Razak Exchange (TRX).

His remarks came in response to developments involving 14 Barisan Nasional (BN) state assemblymen in Negeri Sembilan who have collectively withdrawn their support for Aminuddin, citing a loss of confidence in his leadership.

The move has triggered fresh political uncertainty in the state, raising questions over the stability of the existing administration.

Earlier, Negeri Sembilan UMNO liaison chairman Jalaluddin Alias reportedly said the decision by BN assemblymen was linked to issues surrounding the state’s traditional institutions and constitutional framework.

He stressed that such institutions must be respected and protected from political interference, suggesting that these concerns were central to the bloc’s decision to pull its support.

Despite the escalating situation, Anwar refrained from offering further details, instead emphasising the need to allow the state leadership to present its position in a structured manner.

Observers note that the Prime Minister’s measured response signals a cautious approach as federal leaders assess the political implications of the development.

The coming days are expected to be critical, with further announcements likely to determine the direction of the state government and the broader alignment between PH and BN at both state and federal levels.
