XPDC Continues to Draw Strong Performance Offers Despite Confirming Ramadan Break
KUALA LUMPUR — Legendary Malaysian heavy metal band XPDC continues to receive numerous performance offers despite confirming that they will not perform during the Ramadan period.
According to their manager Yazid Selamat, the decision to take a break had been made earlier in respect of the holy month.
He said the decision was finalised before the band’s special performance with fans at Bapaku FM on February 14.
The show was regarded as one of XPDC’s final appearances before temporarily stepping away from live performances during Ramadan.
The concert, held in Gombak, received encouraging support, with more than 300 tickets sold and fans attending from various locations.
Yazid said the performance provided a valuable opportunity for the band members to engage directly with their fans and show appreciation for their continued loyalty.
He described the event as a meaningful moment for the group.
However, he admitted that event organisers have continued to contact him in recent days in an attempt to persuade the band to perform during Ramadan.
He said this included approaches made during the band’s recent performance in Johor.
According to him, the situation was difficult as some organisers have long-standing relationships with the band.
Despite this, he said the band remains committed to their decision.
XPDC is currently recognised as one of the most in-demand bands among carnival organisers in Malaysia.
The band, consisting of Zuar, Amy, Jeff and Ary, has a unique appeal that attracts large audiences.
Their performances often help increase event attendance and overall success.
In 2025, XPDC performed nearly 70 shows across the country, reinforcing their position as one of Malaysia’s most active heavy metal bands.
Despite issues involving the use of the XPDC name by others, organisers continue to recognise the band’s strong appeal.
This continued demand highlights XPDC’s lasting influence in Malaysia’s music industry.
Their decision to take a Ramadan break reflects respect for religious observance, while ongoing offers demonstrate their enduring popularity.
