Stacy hopes Anggerik develops genuine passion for music as young talent gains public attention

PETALING JAYA: Singer Stacy Anam has expressed her support for fellow artiste Adira Suhaimi’s decision to introduce her eldest daughter, Anggerik, to the entertainment industry at a young age, saying early exposure can help nurture talent and allow children to discover their true potential.

The award-winning performer believes giving children opportunities to explore their interests is an important part of their personal development, particularly when they possess natural artistic ability that may otherwise go unnoticed.

Stacy said Anggerik’s recent success in winning the second season of Talk To My Manager demonstrated that the young contestant had abilities that only became evident after being given the chance to perform on a larger platform.

She noted that before joining the programme, Anggerik was not widely recognised as someone pursuing singing seriously, making the competition an important stepping stone in uncovering her musical capabilities.

“If Anggerik had never participated, she might never have discovered what she was truly capable of. Sometimes children only realise their strengths after they are given the opportunity to try something new,” Stacy told Utusan Malaysia.

She added that every child develops differently and should ultimately be allowed to decide which path they genuinely wish to pursue.

According to Stacy, parents can provide guidance and opportunities, but the long-term commitment must come from the child if they are to build a lasting career in the entertainment industry.

While acknowledging Anggerik’s promising start, Stacy stressed that the youngster’s journey in music has only just begun and will require continuous learning, discipline and personal growth.

She said young performers who receive widespread public attention often face heightened expectations, making it important for them to remain grounded and continue developing their skills over time.

“My greatest hope is that Anggerik truly falls in love with music. If that passion comes naturally, she will give her very best and continue working hard because she genuinely enjoys what she does,” she said.

Stacy’s comments come after videos of Anggerik performing her hit song Aku Stacy went viral on social media, with many netizens praising the young performer’s confidence and stage presence.

The performances also prompted some online users to describe Anggerik as a potential successor to Stacy, a comparison the singer views as encouragement while emphasising that every artiste should ultimately build an identity of their own.

Stacy believes nurturing a genuine appreciation for music is far more important than pursuing fame at an early age, adding that passion and dedication remain the foundation of long-term success in the entertainment industry.

For the record, Stacy rose to prominence after winning Akademi Fantasia Season Six and has since established herself as one of Malaysia’s leading pop performers, earning the title of the country’s “Queen of Pop Dance.”

Adira Suhaimi, meanwhile, first gained national recognition after finishing as runner-up in Akademi Fantasia Season Eight and continues to be one of Malaysia’s most recognised recording artistes.
