Sōlaria Biō Clinical Study Confirms Bōndia™ Microbial Formula Successfully Supports Bone Health

BOSTON, Feb. 20, 2026 – Biotechnology firm Sōlaria Biō has released new clinical evidence demonstrating that the microbial composition in its synbiotic medical food, Bōndia™, is effectively delivered to the human gut and performs as intended, reinforcing its role in improving bone health.

The findings, published in the peer-reviewed journal Beneficial Microbes, detailed the results of an open-label, randomized clinical trial designed to evaluate the delivery, survival, and persistence of beneficial microbes contained in Bōndia™, which was studied under the identifier SBD111, alongside an investigational formulation known as SBD121.

The research used advanced strain-level analysis to confirm that the specific microbes contained in the formulations successfully reached the gastrointestinal tract and maintained viability during supplementation.

These results strengthen existing scientific evidence supporting Bōndia™ as a medical food designed to promote skeletal health.

Study Demonstrates Effective Gut Delivery and Stability

According to the study, microbial strains contained in Bōndia™ were rapidly detected in participants’ digestive systems shortly after consumption, confirming successful delivery through the gastrointestinal environment.

Detection rates ranged between 83 percent and 100 percent among participants, demonstrating consistent performance across individuals.

Researchers also observed that the microbes remained present throughout the supplementation period but naturally declined after intake was discontinued.

Importantly, the presence of these strains did not disrupt the balance, diversity, or function of the participants’ overall gut microbiome, indicating that the formulation is both controlled and safe.

To ensure scientific accuracy, the study applied multiple analytical methods, including quantitative polymerase chain reaction testing, metagenomic sequencing, and microbial culture recovery.

Sōlaria Biō Chief Executive Officer Catherine Balsam-Schwaber said the findings addressed a key scientific question in microbiome research.

She explained that the clinical trial confirmed the microbial strains reached the intended destination, remained active, and behaved predictably, validating the design and safety of the company’s medical food.

Addresses Growing Bone Health Concerns Among Women

The company highlighted that bone health deterioration is a major global concern, particularly among aging women.

More than half of women aged over 50 are affected by osteopenia or osteoporosis, conditions linked to hormonal changes, inflammation, and shifts in gut microbiome composition.

Previous clinical findings have shown that Bōndia™ improved bone density by as much as 85 percent in women diagnosed with osteopenia.

The latest study helps explain the biological mechanism behind these improvements by confirming that the microbial strains function as intended inside the human body.

The new data also builds on earlier research published in Osteoporosis International and the Journal of Functional Foods, which reported similar benefits.

Expanding Access Through Strategic Partnerships

Beyond research, Sōlaria Biō is expanding its collaborations to improve access to bone health monitoring and preventive care.

The company has partnered with DexaFit to provide broader access to DXA bone density scans, allowing individuals to measure and track skeletal health more accurately.

It has also joined the AgeTech Collaborative™ from AARP Accelerator, a program supporting companies developing innovations in aging and longevity.

Additionally, Sōlaria Biō has formed a partnership with 51&, an organization focused on advancing women’s health advocacy and systemic healthcare improvements.

Focused on Science-Driven Healthy Aging Solutions

Sōlaria Biō said its mission is to develop scientifically validated, natural health interventions to support healthy aging.

With the latest clinical findings, the company believes Bōndia™ represents a significant advancement in microbiome-based approaches to bone health management.

The product is currently available for purchase through the company’s official website and through participating healthcare providers.
