Samsuri Says ‘Anything Is Possible’ as Negeri Sembilan Political Crisis Deepens

KUALA TERENGGANU, April 29 — Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar has signalled that all political options remain open as the situation in Negeri Sembilan continues to evolve, saying developments will depend on how events unfold in the coming days.

The Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman said the coalition is closely monitoring the crisis but has yet to make any firm decision on its next move, including the possibility of working with Barisan Nasional (BN) to form a new state government.

“In politics, anything can happen. We will wait and see what comes next,” he told reporters after attending the Terengganu State Sports Awards ceremony.

Samsuri noted that the unfolding developments are widely known and that PN is taking a cautious approach, choosing to assess the situation thoroughly before committing to any political alignment.

He said the coalition remains united internally, dismissing suggestions of disagreements following claims that several PN assemblymen may support a new administration alongside BN.

“So far, there are no issues within PN regarding what is happening in Negeri Sembilan. We are observing the situation carefully,” he said.

The Terengganu Menteri Besar also did not rule out the possibility that cooperation between PN and BN could extend beyond the current crisis, potentially shaping a broader political alignment in the future.

Analysts have noted that the developments in Negeri Sembilan could have wider implications for Malaysia’s political landscape, particularly if new alliances begin to take shape across party lines.

Despite the speculation, Samsuri stressed that any resolution must adhere strictly to legal and constitutional frameworks.

He said political disputes, whether in Negeri Sembilan or elsewhere, should be addressed in accordance with state laws and the Federal Constitution to ensure legitimacy and stability.

“Any decision must be based on the law, including the State Constitution and the Federal Constitution. That is the foundation for determining the appropriate course of action,” he added.

The political situation in Negeri Sembilan has intensified in recent days following shifts in support among assembly members, raising questions about the stability of the current administration and the possibility of a new government being formed.

While no definitive outcome has emerged, Samsuri’s remarks underscore the fluid nature of the crisis, with multiple scenarios still under consideration as political stakeholders weigh their options.
