PKR Yet to Decide on Rafizi, Awaits Official Response Before Taking Next Step
KOTA BHARU, Feb 27 — Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) has not reached a decision regarding its former deputy president Rafizi Ramli and will wait for his explanation before determining any course of action.
PKR secretary-general Fuziah Salleh said the party has issued a show cause letter and is giving Rafizi the opportunity to respond.
She said the letter was sent on February 23 and he was given five days to provide his explanation.
So far, the party has not received any official reply.
“We will not act prematurely and will wait for his explanation before making any decision,” she told reporters.
Fuziah said this after attending a Ramadan Rahmah Bazaar programme in Kota Bharu.
She added that the matter will be discussed during the PKR Central Leadership Council meeting scheduled for March 1.
According to her, Rafizi’s statement appears to conflict with the party’s constitution.
She explained that Clause 9.1(c) states that membership may be terminated if a member declares that they are leaving the party.
The show cause letter was issued to clarify his position.
Rafizi had previously stated his intention to defend his parliamentary seat without contesting under the PKR banner.
He later confirmed receiving the letter through a video shared on social media.
The development has drawn attention due to his previous leadership role within the party.
PKR is expected to make a final decision after reviewing his response and holding internal discussions.
