Penang Opposition Leader Receives Treatment After High Blood Pressure Episode

GEORGE TOWN: Penang opposition leader Muhammad Fauzi Yusoff received medical treatment at Hospital Pulau Pinang after suffering from high blood pressure while at the Penang State Legislative Assembly complex today.

Muhammad Fauzi, who is also the Sungai Dua assemblyman, reportedly began feeling unwell at around 12.30pm after earlier attending official duties as usual.

His condition appeared to weaken, prompting medical personnel at the location to provide immediate assistance before he was transported by ambulance to the hospital’s emergency unit for further treatment.

Initial examinations reportedly found that he was experiencing high blood pressure and required close monitoring by the medical team to ensure his condition stabilised.

Penang Pas Youth deputy chief Muhammad Hafiz Alias said Muhammad Fauzi’s condition is currently under control following early treatment at the hospital.

“He remains conscious and is being monitored in the emergency unit. His blood pressure readings have also shown improvement after receiving treatment,” he told the media.

According to him, the hospital is continuing observation procedures as a precautionary measure to ensure Muhammad Fauzi’s health condition remains stable.

The incident drew concern among assemblymen and staff members present at the state assembly building, many of whom closely followed updates on his condition after the incident occurred.

So far, no additional information has been released regarding the duration of his treatment or whether he will be admitted for further observation.

Muhammad Fauzi serves as the Penang commissioner of Parti Islam Se-Malaysia (PAS) and is among the key opposition leaders in the state.

Political associates and supporters have also expressed prayers and well wishes for his speedy recovery and return to duty in the near future.
