Jackery Teams Up with Homey to Accelerate Smart Plug-in Home Battery Adoption in Europe

LONDON: Global energy solutions company Jackery has announced a strategic partnership with Homey, the smart home platform developed by Athom and backed by LG Electronics, to deliver a more intelligent and responsive energy management experience for its latest SolarVault 3 plug-in home battery series.

The collaboration is aimed at strengthening the integration of home batteries with smart energy ecosystems, allowing homeowners to monitor and optimise electricity consumption in real time while reducing reliance on traditional power grids.

Under the partnership, Jackery’s SolarVault 3 series will integrate with the Homey Energy Dongle through the P1 smart meter interface, enabling the system to access household electricity consumption data with one-second precision in the Dutch market.

By continuously analysing live grid data, the system can automatically adjust battery output according to household energy demand, transforming plug-in batteries from passive storage units into active energy management tools.

The companies said the technology is designed to help consumers maximise self-consumption of solar energy, prevent electricity from being fed back into the grid unnecessarily and respond more effectively to increasingly complex energy market conditions.

The integration is particularly relevant for the Netherlands, where consumers are facing major changes including the gradual phase-out of net metering schemes, growing grid congestion and the widespread adoption of dynamic electricity tariffs.

Athom chief executive officer Stefan Witkamp said the changing energy landscape has made smart self-consumption solutions more important than ever.

“Energy prices are increasingly volatile and the value of self-consumption continues to grow.

“A plug-in battery becomes significantly more useful when it can react to what is happening inside the home in real time.

“With Homey, Jackery’s SolarVault 3 can do exactly that,” he said.

According to Witkamp, simplicity is another major advantage of the integrated system.

Users can connect the Homey Energy Dongle directly to their home’s P1 smart meter and pair it with the Jackery system through a mobile application, eliminating the need for professional electrical installation.

The easy setup is expected to lower barriers to adoption and make smart home battery systems more accessible to ordinary consumers.

Meanwhile, Jackery Europe Head of Sales Jeff Shen described the partnership as a major milestone in the company’s transition from a hardware-focused manufacturer to a provider of data-driven energy solutions.

“This partnership marks an important step in our transition from hardware to intelligent, data-driven energy solutions.

“With the SolarVault 3 series, we aim to deliver smarter and more responsive home energy management while expanding our integration into the wider Homey energy ecosystem,” he said.

Beyond real-time grid connectivity, the two companies are planning deeper collaboration in software development and ecosystem expansion.

Jackery said additional Homey energy management integration features are expected to be introduced from July onwards.

Among the upcoming features are artificial intelligence-powered charging and discharging optimisation based on weather forecasts and user behaviour, as well as dynamic tariff strategies that automatically adjust energy usage according to electricity prices.

The system is also expected to coordinate with connected smart devices including electric vehicle chargers, heat pumps and smart plugs, creating a more automated and efficient home energy environment.

The partnership reflects a broader trend across Europe, where rising electricity prices and growing demand for renewable energy are driving consumers to seek smarter ways to manage household power consumption.

Jackery and Homey will showcase the SolarVault 3 series and selected Homey products at The smarter E Europe exhibition in Munich from June 23 to June 25.

Visitors to the exhibition will have the opportunity to experience firsthand how smart home batteries and connected energy platforms can work together to create a more sustainable, intelligent and energy-efficient future.
