
Former National Rugby Player Mohamad Khairul Abdillah Ramli Passes Away
SEA Games Gold Medallist Remembered By Malaysian Rugby Community
PETALING JAYA — Malaysian rugby circles are mourning the passing of former national player Mohamad Khairul Abdillah Ramli, who reportedly died today while travelling back to Kelantan.
The late player, affectionately known as Myko within the local rugby community, was part of the Malaysian squad that won a gold medal at the 2017 Southeast Asian Games in Kuala Lumpur.
News of his passing was confirmed through an official statement issued by Ragbi Malaysia tonight.
“It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mohamad Khairul Abdillah, former national player, Kelantan Piala Agong 2026 squad member and Bunga Raya 7s player who contributed a gold medal for Malaysia at the 2017 SEA Games. He passed away while travelling back to Kelantan,” the statement said.
Ragbi Malaysia described his passing as a major loss to Malaysian rugby, particularly to the rugby community in Kelantan.
The governing body also extended its condolences to the family and close friends of the late player.
“May his soul be blessed, his sins forgiven and may he be placed among the righteous,” the statement added.
Apart from representing Malaysia at the international level, Mohamad Khairul Abdillah Ramli remained actively involved with the Kelantan rugby squad and continued contributing to the development of the sport at the state level.
His passing has deeply saddened members of the local rugby fraternity, many of whom remembered him as a dedicated and passionate player both on and off the field.
