FitsAir to add four weekly flights to Malaysia by end of March

KUALA LUMPUR: Sri Lanka’s low-cost airline and first privately owned international airline, FitsAir, plans to increase the frequency of its weekly flights to Malaysia to four times a week from three times a week by the end of March this year.

Fits Aviation (Pte) Ltd Chief Commercial Officer Mohamed Najath Suruba told Bernama that the airline aims to increase daily flights by the end of October with plans to operate twice-daily services by next year, thus underlining the airline’s long-term commitment to the Malaysian market.

“Currently, we have four destinations – Dubai, Male, Dhaka and Kuala Lumpur and this summer we will increase it to eight destinations. The new destinations are Bangkok, Lahore, Ahmedabad and Delhi,” he said.

He said the airline, which entered the Malaysian market in April 2025, was targeting a load factor of 85 percent to 90 percent after successfully increasing it from 60 percent to 80 percent within nine months of starting operations in Malaysia.

“We have changed the load factor from 60 percent to 80 percent in nine months. I am confident that it will easily increase to 85 percent to 90 percent.
“When we reach 85 percent, we want to increase the frequency,” he said.

Mohamed said FitsAir is optimistic of achieving a load factor of over 85 percent once flights are connected to Lahore, noting the significant gap in air connectivity between Pakistan and Malaysia.

“We strongly believe that through Colombo, we can connect them (passengers) from Malaysia to Pakistan.

“Therefore, our new destination will start from Lahore at the end of March and we will open sales (of the flight) in the first week of February,” he said.
Mohamed said FitsAir also aims to connect passengers from Malaysia to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and is currently working on the plan.

“We only have six to nine months left for the project because we are trying to connect (passengers) from Malaysia to Jeddah via a connection in Colombo.

“This will provide many opportunities for Malaysian passengers (for Hajj or Umrah pilgrims) and other Muslim countries such as Indonesia to travel to Jeddah via Colombo,” he said.
FitsAir currently operates three A320 aircraft powered by IAE V2500 engines with a seating capacity ranging from 164 to 180.

In Malaysia, NZ World Tours and Travels Sdn Bhd, through its website mynztrip.com, is a sales agent for FitsAir.
mynztrip.com Strategic Alliances Manager, Mohamad Naszari Abu said the collaboration with FitsAir aims to expand its reach to more overseas destinations, while also introducing the mynztrip.com platform.

“For Visit Malaysia 2026, Sri Lanka and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are our target markets. We have also made plans for inbound travel to Malaysia by introducing destinations outside Kuala Lumpur including Langkawi and Borneo.

“We aim to handle more than 50,000 passengers this year through various promotions, including promoting the islands in Malaysia as well as introducing Kuala Lumpur as a preferred destination for Colombo and West Asia, including the UAE,” he said.

Meanwhile, mynztrip.com (Malaysia) sales and marketing Arif Aizuddin said mynztrip.com is an “all-in-one” travel solutions platform that provides convenience for all agents to buy from agencies and sell externally as well as for all customers who enjoy using its portal.

“We expect wider expansion as we have 11 offices worldwide. With the collaboration of FitsAir, we hope to expand our services to Jeddah more easily and to further destinations,” he said.
