Education Minister Fadhlina Commends Strong Character and Excellence of SMK Sultanah Hajah Kalsom Students

KUANTAN, April 8 — Malaysia’s Education Minister, Fadhlina Sidek, has expressed deep admiration for the outstanding character and well-rounded excellence demonstrated by students of SMK Sultanah Hajah Kalsom during her recent visit to the school.

She noted that the institution has achieved commendable academic results while also maintaining active participation in co-curricular activities, particularly rugby, which has become a hallmark of the school’s sporting achievements.

However, what left the strongest impression on the minister was the exemplary conduct and refined manners displayed by the students. She described their level of discipline and respect as exceptional, highlighting it as a defining strength of the school.

According to Fadhlina, such admirable character reflects the effectiveness of the school’s educational approach, where moral values and ethical behaviour are deeply embedded in daily learning and interactions.

She emphasised that producing students who excel academically while possessing strong character is the result of consistent dedication by school administrators and teachers who prioritise holistic development.

The minister further stressed that character building should remain a central pillar of Malaysia’s education system, in line with the Ministry of Education’s broader vision of nurturing balanced individuals equipped with both intellectual capability and strong moral grounding.

She added that national education plans aim to transform every school into an inspiring institution, regardless of its background, by fostering environments that promote both academic excellence and personal development.

Schools like SMK Sultanah Hajah Kalsom, she said, serve as clear examples that true success in education goes beyond grades and achievements, encompassing the cultivation of values, discipline and integrity.

Fadhlina also extended her congratulations to the school’s principal and teaching staff for their unwavering commitment in shaping students who are not only high-performing but also well-mannered and socially responsible.

Her visit underscores the importance of a holistic education model that integrates academic success with character development, ultimately contributing to the creation of a more resilient and ethical future generation.
