CFE2026 Hangzhou Elevates Flow Batteries as Strategic Pillar of Long-Duration Energy Storage

HANGZHOU, Feb 13, 2026 — The 6th China Flow Battery Energy Storage Conference & Exhibition (CFE2026) will convene on March 17–18 in Hangzhou, positioning flow batteries at the center of China’s long-duration energy storage strategy.

Branded as the “Flow Battery Summit of a Thousand,” the event is expected to become the largest global platform dedicated to flow battery technologies, at a time when long-duration storage has been elevated to national strategic priority under China’s dual carbon agenda.

Energy Transition Meets Storage Imperatives

As renewable energy’s share in China’s energy mix continues to expand, grid stability challenges intensify due to the intermittent nature of wind and solar generation.

Without scalable long-duration storage solutions, balancing supply and demand becomes increasingly complex.

China’s energy leadership has underscored the importance of leveraging national system strengths to achieve breakthroughs in technologies such as flow batteries and compressed air storage.

Academician Zhao Tianshou highlighted that flow batteries combine intrinsic safety, extended lifecycle durability and flexible scalability, positioning them as a leading candidate for large-scale energy storage deployment.

AI, Data Centers and Structural Demand Growth

Beyond renewable integration, rising electricity demand from AI computing and hyperscale data centers is reshaping the global energy landscape.

Global data center rack capacity is projected to exceed 181 million units by 2030, while energy storage installations for data centers could expand more than tenfold compared to 2024 levels.

The International Energy Agency forecasts that electricity demand from data centers and 5G networks in China may double in the coming years.

Against this backdrop, the “renewables + storage” synergy is rapidly becoming the standard model for green data center construction.

Industry-Wide Convergence at CFE2026

Co-organized by leading industry alliances, CFE2026 will cover the full spectrum of flow battery technologies, including all-vanadium, all-iron, zinc-bromine, iron-chromium, zinc-iron and aqueous organic systems.

The conference will feature more than 50 keynote addresses, over 100 exhibition booths and attract upwards of 1,000 participants from across the global energy storage ecosystem.

With participation from over 600 enterprises spanning upstream materials to downstream project developers, the event is designed as a comprehensive integration platform for investment, commercialization and technological collaboration.
