Amanah Youth Leader in Perlis Resigns, Steps Down from All Positions
KANGAR, April 30 — The Perlis Youth chief of Parti Amanah Negara, Ahmad Fadhzil Mohamad, has announced his resignation from the party, stepping down from all leadership roles in a move that signals a notable shift in the state’s youth political landscape.
His departure includes relinquishing several key positions, namely head of Amanah Youth’s National Health Bureau, Amanah Youth chief for the Kangar division, as well as Perlis Pakatan Harapan (PH) Youth chief.
In explaining his decision, Ahmad Fadhzil said it came after a thorough and reflective evaluation of his role as a young leader and the broader direction of his political engagement.
Throughout his tenure, he said he had worked to strengthen the party’s grassroots presence, amplify youth voices, and engage communities through initiatives centred on healthcare and social welfare.
However, he acknowledged that differences had gradually emerged between his personal principles and the current priorities and approaches within the party.
“This decision was not taken lightly. I believe there is a growing gap between the values I uphold and the direction being pursued in the present political environment,” he said.
He added that stepping away from both his positions and party membership would allow other leaders to continue their agenda, while giving him the space to focus on initiatives that are more aligned with his personal convictions and closer to community needs.
Ahmad Fadhzil also expressed his appreciation to party leaders, colleagues, and members at all levels for their trust and cooperation throughout his time in office. He extended an apology for any shortcomings during his tenure and wished the party continued success in advancing its goals.
Following his resignation, Azzin Izzad Bahanudin, who also serves as the state chief of Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK), will assume the role of acting Perlis PH Youth chief.
Azzin Izzad said he will carry out the responsibilities on an interim basis pending further direction from the central leadership of Angkatan Muda Harapan.
He emphasised that the youth wing would remain committed to its role as a constructive check-and-balance force, while continuing to represent the aspirations of young people in the state.
He also conveyed appreciation for Ahmad Fadhzil’s contributions, describing his leadership and dedication as instrumental in strengthening the youth movement within Perlis.
