ACG Packaging Materials Becomes First Pharmaceutical Packaging Firm in WEF’s Global Lighthouse Network
DAVOS/MUMBAI, Feb 6 — ACG Packaging Materials has made industry history after its Shirwal facility was designated a Global Lighthouse by the World Economic Forum (WEF), making it the first pharmaceutical packaging company to join the Global Lighthouse Network (GLN).
The recognition marks ACG’s second Lighthouse honour, following the 2023 designation of its Pithampur capsule manufacturing site. The achievement reinforces the company’s position as a leader in deploying advanced Industry 4.0 technologies within the global healthcare supply chain.
Global Lighthouse status is awarded to manufacturing facilities that demonstrate world-class excellence in integrating digital transformation, data intelligence and sustainability across end-to-end operations.
Managing Director Karan Singh said the milestone underscores ACG’s commitment to building intelligent, resilient and future-ready manufacturing ecosystems.
“In today’s industrial landscape, leadership is defined not just by cost efficiency but by the ability to design smarter, more adaptive and more sustainable operations,” he said.
The Shirwal transformation programme integrates generative AI, machine learning, deep learning, Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and digital twin technologies, enabling real-time operational visibility and predictive optimisation.
In an increasingly commoditised pharmaceutical packaging market, the digital overhaul has strengthened productivity, reduced waste and enhanced decision-making accuracy.
Key measurable outcomes include a 40 per cent reduction in lead times, a 71 per cent decrease in defects, a 31 per cent drop in energy consumption and a 34 per cent improvement in on-time, in-full deliveries.
For customers, these improvements translate into faster turnaround, improved product consistency and greater supply chain reliability at scale.
According to the World Economic Forum, the Global Lighthouse Network showcases how leading manufacturers are embedding resilience and sustainability into the core of industrial performance, setting benchmarks for the next generation of global production systems.
