Protesters Call for Rafizi to Step Down, Cite Loss of Confidence Among Some Voters
KUALA LUMPUR: A group of protesters has called on former economy minister Rafizi Ramli to step down from politics, citing what they described as a loss of confidence among certain segments of voters.
The demonstration was held outside the office of Invoke Solutions Sdn Bhd, where participants submitted a memorandum outlining their demands.
Spokesperson Faizan Mohd Nor said the gathering aimed to express dissatisfaction with Rafizi’s performance as a public representative and former government official.
Concerns Over Leadership and Public Statements
According to him, those present believe Rafizi had not met expectations during his tenure and have raised concerns over his recent public statements, which they claim may be confusing to some members of the public.
“We are here to convey that there is growing dissatisfaction among certain voters regarding his leadership,” he said.
He added that turnout at the protest was higher compared to previous gatherings, suggesting increasing support for the call.
Political Figures Weigh In
Also present was PKR founder Ng Lum Yong, who expressed concern over what he described as a more aggressive tone in Rafizi’s recent remarks.
He cautioned that such messaging, if not clearly communicated, could contribute to public misunderstanding.
Issue Likely to Remain in Spotlight
The protest highlights differing views within certain groups regarding Rafizi’s role in the current political landscape.
As of now, there has been no official response from Rafizi regarding the calls for him to step down.
