Khairy Jamaluddin leaves fate to UMNO

PONTIAN: Former UMNO Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin has left it to the party leadership to make a decision regarding his application to rejoin UMNO.

He said the application letter had been submitted and was now awaiting a decision, which was expected to be discussed at the Supreme Working Council (MKT) meeting on April 17.

“I have submitted an application letter and submitted it to UMNO to make a decision,” he told reporters when attending the Aidilfitri Open House of UMNO Executive Secretary and Pontian UMNO Deputy Division Chief, Datuk Mohd Sumali Reduan in Benut, here.

Khairy said he was willing to return to service if his application was approved, adding that a meeting with UMNO President Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had been arranged with Sumali’s help.

According to Khairy, if he is readmitted, he wants to start as an ordinary member without thinking about any position because he is still in the process of returning to the party.

Earlier, UMNO Vice President Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin was reported to have said that the applications of several former leaders, including Khairy, would be brought to the MKT meeting on April 17.
