MM2H Programme Strengthens Malaysia’s Global Appeal, Reflects Improved Governance and Investor Confidence
KUALA LUMPUR — Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) continues to reinforce Malaysia’s position as a preferred destination for international residents, highlighting the country’s commitment to stronger governance, transparency, and efficient systems.
Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing said the programme represents more than just a residency initiative, but serves as a clear signal of Malaysia’s openness to the global community.
He noted that confidence in the programme has increased significantly following the approval of its new framework by the Cabinet on May 21, 2024, and the Ministry’s takeover of the programme’s management in October 2023.
According to him, improvements introduced under the new framework have enhanced efficiency and strengthened programme credibility.
“This programme reflects Malaysia’s readiness to welcome international participants through a transparent and well-governed system,” he said.
Tiong added that the establishment of the MM2H One-Stop Centre in December 2023 has contributed to improved programme performance.
As of Feb 11, 2026, a total of 255 operating licences have been issued.
Participation has also increased significantly, with 9,511 applicants approved in 2024 and 2025 across various categories, including Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Special Economic Zone.
Tiong said the programme’s impact extends beyond participation numbers and delivers tangible economic benefits.
In 2024, MM2H generated RM3.3 million in participation fees and RM550.8 million in fixed deposits.
In 2025, participation fees rose to RM10.5 million, while fixed deposits increased to RM1.8 billion.
Participants also contributed RM1.5 billion to Malaysia’s property market through home purchases.
He said these figures demonstrate the programme’s strong economic contribution.
Tiong also expressed appreciation to programme agents and operators for promoting MM2H globally.
He added that strategic cooperation with financial institutions such as Bank of China has strengthened investor confidence.
He emphasised that MM2H is not merely a residency programme but a platform for building an international community in Malaysia.
The programme also plays an important role in supporting economic growth and enhancing Malaysia’s global reputation.
