MPKK Position Is a Responsibility, Not a Status Symbol, Says Perlis MB

Members Urged to Uphold Integrity and Serve Community

KANGAR: Perlis Menteri Besar Abu Bakar Hamzah said positions in the Village Development and Security Committee (MPKK) should not be viewed as a source of pride but as a major responsibility entrusted to serve the community.

He said MPKK members must carry out their duties with dedication, discipline, and sincerity, without being driven by personal interests.

Emphasise Transparency and Fairness

He stressed that members must practice good governance and remain fair and inclusive regardless of political affiliation, race, or religion.

He added that maintaining unity, safety, and well-being in villages should always be prioritised.

He also highlighted the importance of cooperation between MPKK, government agencies, local authorities, and the community.

Key Role in Rural Development

Abu Bakar said MPKK plays a crucial role in supporting rural development initiatives, including poverty eradication and village modernisation.

He noted that members should also take proactive steps to address social, economic, and welfare issues within their communities.

Set Positive Example for Society

He expressed hope that MPKK leaders appointed for the 2026–2027 term would serve as role models.

He urged members to adopt positive attitudes and avoid negative traits such as arrogance, favouritism, and bias, which could undermine community harmony.

He emphasised that MPKK members are at the forefront of ensuring village progress and social well-being.
