MACC appeals for public’s help to locate two Bangladeshi men needed in ongoing corruption trial

PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is seeking public assistance to locate two Bangladeshi nationals who are required to appear as witnesses in an ongoing corruption trial before the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the anti-graft agency said both individuals are needed in court in connection with proceedings involving charges under Section 16(a)(B) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009 (Act 694).

According to the MACC, extensive efforts to trace the first prosecution witness, Fardin Mahi, have so far been unsuccessful after investigators were unable to contact him at his last known address at No. 6, Level 16, Block A, Menara City One, Jalan Munshi Abdullah, 50100 Kuala Lumpur.

The commission is also attempting to locate Md Sumon Hossain, whose last recorded residential address is Residensi Pandanmas, Block B-20-05, Lorong Delapan, Kampung Pandan, 55100 Kuala Lumpur.

The agency said both individuals are required to attend court proceedings on several scheduled hearing dates as part of the ongoing trial.

The court sessions are scheduled for July 13 and 14, followed by additional hearing dates on Aug 3, 4, 10, 11, 12, 13, 17, 18 and 19, as well as Sept 3, 2026.

MACC stressed that the attendance of both witnesses is essential to ensure the smooth continuation of the court proceedings and urged anyone with information regarding their whereabouts to come forward immediately.

Members of the public who have relevant information are encouraged to contact investigating officer Mohd Hafifi Rahmat at 018-663 2034 or the MACC headquarters at 03-9206 5000.

Information may also be submitted via email to [email protected].

The commission assured that all information received will be treated appropriately in accordance with the requirements of the ongoing investigation and judicial process.
