Police Working with Interpol to Locate Na’imah Abdul Khalid and Family for Ongoing Investigation

PETALING JAYA, July 4 — Malaysian police are working with international law enforcement authorities to determine the whereabouts of Toh Puan Na’imah Abdul Khalid, the widow of the late former finance minister Tun Daim Zainuddin, and her children as part of an ongoing criminal investigation.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) are actively attempting to locate the family, who are believed to be overseas, in order to facilitate the completion of investigations currently being carried out by the authorities.

According to Saifuddin, preliminary intelligence assessments and information gathered by enforcement agencies indicate that Na’imah and her children are believed to be in Europe.

He said the effort to trace their location is being coordinated through PDRM’s International Relations Division together with the National Central Bureau (NCB) Interpol Kuala Lumpur.

The cooperation forms part of the authorities’ efforts to establish the family’s exact location and facilitate procedures related to bringing them back to Malaysia to assist in the investigation.

Saifuddin disclosed the latest developments in a written parliamentary reply published on Parliament’s website in response to a question from Kepong Member of Parliament Lim Lip Eng regarding the family’s reported presence overseas and the government’s efforts to secure their return.

He stressed that all actions undertaken by the police are being carried out in accordance with the rule of law and without prejudice or selective treatment.

According to the minister, the investigation is intended to ensure that legal processes are followed while safeguarding the country’s security and legal framework.

Saifuddin also confirmed that police have opened an investigation paper based on Sentul Police Report No. 4034/26.

The case is being investigated under Section 124B of the Penal Code, which relates to activities considered detrimental to parliamentary democracy.

Earlier this year, Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk M. Kumar confirmed that Na’imah and her two sons, Muhammed Amir Zainuddin and Muhammed Amin Zainuddin, had been outside Malaysia since investigations into allegations of a plot to undermine the government commenced.

Authorities have not disclosed the specific countries where the family is believed to be staying, stating only that intelligence indicates they are currently somewhere in Europe.

As investigations continue, police have recorded statements from 17 individuals believed to be able to assist in establishing the facts surrounding the case.

The completed investigation papers have since been submitted to the Attorney General’s Chambers for further legal consideration and any subsequent action deemed appropriate.

The latest update reflects the continuing collaboration between Malaysian law enforcement agencies and international policing networks in cases involving individuals believed to be outside the country’s jurisdiction.

Police have not indicated whether any additional legal measures, including international notices or other cross-border mechanisms, have been initiated beyond the ongoing cooperation through Interpol channels.

Authorities have maintained that the investigation remains active and that efforts to locate Na’imah Abdul Khalid and her children will continue as part of the broader inquiry under the provisions of Malaysian law.
