Muss Shares Wife’s Health Update as Suraya Continues Intensive Care Treatment
KUALA LUMPUR: Veteran singer Muss has revealed that his wife, Suraya Baharu, remains under close medical observation in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) as doctors continue treating complications arising from her prolonged health condition.
Speaking during a media session held in conjunction with the Konsert Biru Mata Hitamku at the JW Marriott Hotel, Muss said his wife is showing signs of gradual improvement, although she continues to undergo several medical procedures as part of her recovery.
According to the singer, one of the latest treatments involves the insertion of a drainage tube to remove fluid that has accumulated in Suraya’s lungs. He explained that while her overall condition has become more stable compared with earlier stages of treatment, doctors are continuing to monitor several secondary complications.
Muss said the procedure formed part of the medical team’s ongoing efforts to improve his wife’s respiratory condition and support her recovery.
Despite the challenges she has endured, including the amputation of her left leg below the knee due to complications from diabetes, Muss described Suraya as an exceptionally resilient individual whose determination has continued to inspire both him and other family members.
He shared that throughout her treatment, Suraya has rarely complained about her condition and has consistently maintained a positive outlook despite facing significant physical and emotional challenges.
The singer admitted that witnessing his wife’s strength has motivated him to remain composed during one of the most difficult periods of their lives. He said he has chosen to stay emotionally strong in front of her, believing that his own resilience is important in supporting her recovery.
Muss also explained that every major medical decision involving Suraya’s treatment is discussed collectively with close family members before any course of action is taken. He said family support has become an essential part of navigating the difficult medical journey.
While continuing with his professional commitments, the singer acknowledged that balancing work and family responsibilities has been emotionally demanding. He said Suraya has long played an important role in managing many aspects of his career, making her absence deeply felt in his daily routine.
Nevertheless, Muss said he remains focused on supporting his wife while placing his trust in the medical team overseeing her treatment. He also expressed gratitude for the prayers, encouragement and concern shown by friends, colleagues and members of the public during the family’s difficult period.
Suraya previously underwent surgery to amputate her left leg below the knee following complications related to diabetes. As her recovery continues, Muss said the family remains hopeful that ongoing treatment and rehabilitation will help improve her condition in the coming weeks.
