PCM Rebrands as Parti Wawasan Negara as Hamzah Seeks to Strengthen Perikatan Nasional

PETALING JAYA: Parti Cinta Malaysia (PCM) has officially rebranded itself as Parti Wawasan Negara (Wawasan), marking a new chapter for the party as it seeks to expand its political influence and strengthen Perikatan Nasional (PN) as a broader and more inclusive coalition.

The decision to adopt the new name was unanimously approved during the party’s Special Delegates Meeting held last Saturday, signalling what party leaders describe as a strategic transformation aimed at positioning Wawasan for a larger role in Malaysia’s evolving political landscape.

Wawasan president Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin said the move represents more than a simple change of identity, stressing that it reflects the party’s ambition to contribute more significantly to national politics while reinforcing PN’s standing among voters.

“This decision marks a new chapter not only for Wawasan, but also for efforts to strengthen Perikatan Nasional as a coalition that is increasingly trusted by the people to lead Malaysia.

“I would also like to express my appreciation to the PN Supreme Council for placing its confidence in accepting Wawasan as a component party within the coalition,” he said in a statement today.

Hamzah said the inclusion of Wawasan would enhance PN’s existing strengths, particularly in advancing an agenda of change built on competence, integrity and political stability.

According to him, Wawasan aims to position itself as a party that truly reflects Malaysia’s diversity and represents the aspirations of citizens from various ethnic, social and economic backgrounds.

He said the party believes the country’s future can only be built through cooperation, moderation and a strong commitment to national interests.

“Wawasan is here to serve as a bridge connecting more Malaysians.

“We want to broaden support and further strengthen Perikatan Nasional as an inclusive, stable coalition that is ready to govern,” he said.

Hamzah added that the rebranding exercise reflects the party’s determination to remain relevant to the changing expectations of Malaysians, many of whom are looking for political leaders who prioritise integrity, accountability and practical solutions to everyday issues.

He said Wawasan would continue to focus on strengthening the economy, promoting good governance and ensuring political stability as part of its long-term agenda.

Malaysia’s increasingly competitive political environment, he noted, requires parties capable of bridging differences and uniting people around common goals.

“We want to offer a platform that brings Malaysians together and contributes positively to the country’s future,” he said.

The announcement comes just a day after Perikatan Nasional formally accepted two new component parties into the coalition, namely Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang) and PCM, which is now officially known as Parti Wawasan Negara.

Political observers see the latest development as part of PN’s broader strategy to expand its support base and strengthen its position ahead of future political contests.

For Hamzah, however, the emphasis remains on building a party that can serve Malaysians from all walks of life.

“This is not just about changing a name.

“It is about embracing a bigger vision and working towards a better, more stable and more prosperous Malaysia for everyone,” he said.

The emergence of Parti Wawasan Negara is expected to add a fresh dynamic to Malaysia’s political landscape as parties continue to adapt to changing voter expectations and shifting political alliances.
