Alpha Releases Debut Album ‘The First Wave’ Featuring Global and Local Collaborations
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian M-pop group Alpha has officially released its highly anticipated debut album The First Wave, marking a major milestone after surpassing 100 million streams across digital music platforms.
Released under Rocketfuel Entertainment, the 12-track album showcases a blend of contemporary pop styles and features collaborations with both international and Malaysian artists, reflecting the group’s ambition to expand its musical identity.
Alpha, made up of Daniel, Izat, Rizal, Ariel, Araff, Ray-D and Sky, first emerged through Astro’s reality singing competition Big Stage Alpha in 2025.
Since then, the seven-member boy band has quickly established itself as one of the most promising names in Malaysian pop music with chart-performing tracks such as Mona Lisa (Bang Bang) and P Ramlee Saloma.
Released to coincide with the group’s first anniversary, The First Wave serves as a reflection of Alpha’s artistic growth and evolving musical direction.
Among the album’s highlights is Burn It Down, a track produced by Swedish singer-songwriter and producer Daniel Caesar, together with acclaimed American songwriter and producer Candace Sosa.
Sosa is widely recognised for her work with major K-pop acts including BTS, Twice and Enhypen.
The song was recorded in South Korea while Alpha was undergoing intensive training in the country last year.
Apart from its international collaborations, the album also features several prominent Malaysian artists.
The song Dia includes a collaboration with AG Coco, guitarist of the popular local rock band Hujan, while actress and singer Daiyan Trisha lends her vocals to Haru Biru.
The album also features previously released fan favourites such as Bujang, Tiada Pengganti and Gelato.
Daniel described the debut album as a meaningful achievement that captures the journey the group has experienced over the past year.
“It feels like only yesterday that we started this journey together.
“In just one year, we have learned so much, faced many challenges and created countless memories.
“This album represents all the hard work and sacrifices we have made, and we want to share this special moment with everyone who has supported us from the beginning,” he said.
Meanwhile, Izat said The First Wave showcases a more mature side of Alpha and highlights the group’s willingness to experiment with different musical styles.
“Each song carries its own identity and emotion.
“We explored various genres and are presenting a side of Alpha that fans may never have heard before.
“We are excited to see how listeners respond when they experience the entire album,” he said.
Alpha celebrated the album’s release with a fan event at Pavilion Damansara Heights, where enthusiastic supporters gathered to witness the launch.
The group also performed several of their popular songs live, including Gelato, Bujang and Mahkota Cinta, as they ushered in a new chapter in their musical journey.
