Peterpan Returns to Kuala Lumpur for Nostalgic Reunion Concert Celebrating a Musical Legacy
KUALA LUMPUR: One of Southeast Asia’s most influential pop-rock bands is set to reignite memories for thousands of fans as several founding members of Peterpan reunite for a special one-night-only concert in Malaysia this July.
The highly anticipated event, titled “The Journey Continues,” will take place at Idea Live Arena in Petaling Jaya on July 11 and is expected to attract fans from across the region who grew up listening to the band’s chart-topping hits during the early 2000s.
More than a decade after Peterpan evolved into NOAH, the concert offers audiences a rare opportunity to see key members of the original lineup perform together once again in celebration of the songs that helped define an era of Indonesian and regional pop-rock music.
The reunion will feature founding members Andika Naliputra Wirahardja, Loekman Hakim, Ilsyah Ryan Reza and Hendra Suhendra, all of whom played important roles in shaping the group’s distinctive sound and success.
Although longtime frontman Ariel will not participate due to his current hiatus, organisers have assembled an impressive lineup of guest vocalists to reinterpret Peterpan’s classic songs for a new generation.
The concert will feature performances by Marcello Tahitoe, Tantri Syalindri, Rony Parulian, Arda Hatna, Charly Van Houten and Malaysian artist Hael Husaini.
Fans attending the event can expect a night filled with sing-alongs to iconic songs such as Mungkin Nanti, Ada Apa Denganmu, Topeng, Kukatakan Dengan Indah and many other tracks that dominated radio stations throughout the region during Peterpan’s peak years.
According to the band, the inspiration behind “The Journey Continues” came from the enduring popularity of Peterpan’s music despite the passage of time.
The members said they continue to witness fans in Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore embracing their songs, proving that the music remains deeply connected to listeners across generations.
Even after more than 18 years, Peterpan’s catalogue continues to resonate with audiences who associate the songs with significant moments in their lives.
The band emphasised that the concert is intended as a celebration of that shared musical journey rather than a formal comeback announcement.
While speculation about a permanent reunion has circulated among fans, Peterpan clarified that its current focus remains solely on the “The Journey Continues” concert series.
The project will also stop in Singapore on July 3 before arriving in Kuala Lumpur for what is expected to be one of the most nostalgic regional music events of the year.
Despite Ariel’s absence, the group remains optimistic that fans will embrace the concept because the heart of Peterpan has always been its music.
The band believes its songs have become larger than any individual member, allowing new artists and new generations to continue breathing life into the catalogue.
Founded in September 2000, Peterpan rapidly became one of Indonesia’s most successful bands, winning numerous awards and breaking sales records throughout Southeast Asia.
Its acclaimed album Bintang Di Surga remains one of Indonesian music’s landmark releases, earning multiple honours and helping establish the group as a defining force in modern pop-rock history.
Organised by PT Aloka Presada in collaboration with Pulse Project Asia, the Kuala Lumpur concert offers ticket prices ranging from RM188 to RM588, with exclusive Royal Box packages available for larger groups seeking a premium concert experience.
For many fans, however, the event represents far more than a concert. It is a chance to revisit a soundtrack that shaped an entire generation and celebrate a musical legacy that continues to endure long after Peterpan first captured the region’s imagination.
