Last-Minute Cancellation of Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar’s Press Conference Raises Questions

SEREMBAN: A scheduled press conference by Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun was unexpectedly called off today, less than an hour before it was due to take place following the state executive council meeting.

The cancellation was announced by the Menteri Besar’s press secretary, Ahmad Shahir Mohd. Shah, shortly before the event was scheduled to begin at 1.30 p.m.

In a brief message distributed to members of the media, he stated that the press conference had been postponed due to unavoidable circumstances.

“The 1.30 p.m. press conference has been postponed due to unforeseen reasons,” he said in a notification sent through the official media WhatsApp group.

No additional details were provided regarding the nature of the matter that required the Menteri Besar’s immediate attention.

Journalists who had gathered at Wisma Negeri in anticipation of the weekly briefing remained at the venue after receiving the announcement.

Several reporters later observed Aminuddin inside the state administration building at approximately 1.24 p.m., where he was seen entering a lift believed to be heading towards his office.

Earlier in the day, the Menteri Besar attended an audience with Tuanku Muhriz ibni Almarhum Tuanku Munawir at Istana Hinggap in Seremban.

When approached by reporters after the meeting, Aminuddin offered only a brief response regarding the purpose of the audience.

“It was just a routine meeting, nothing unusual for a Wednesday,” he remarked.

Following the royal audience, he proceeded to attend the weekly state executive council meeting, which began at around 11 a.m.

As of now, no official announcement has been made regarding a replacement date for the postponed press conference.

The cancellation has drawn attention because the post-Exco media briefing is typically used by the state government to communicate policy decisions, provide updates on development initiatives and address current issues affecting Negeri Sembilan residents.
