Malaysian Female Haj Pilgrim Dies Of Heart Attack In Mecca

MECCA: A Malaysian female haj pilgrim has passed away in the Holy Land after suffering a heart attack, according to Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH).

In a statement issued today, Lembaga Tabung Haji said the 63-year-old pilgrim was pronounced dead at Hospital King Faisal at 5.53am local time.

The agency said funeral arrangements were carried out according to Islamic procedures before the deceased was taken to Masjidil Haram for funeral prayers after the Asar prayer.

She was later laid to rest at Tanah Perkuburan Al Sharayea.

According to TH, the pilgrim was from Setiu, Terengganu and had travelled to the Holy Land together with her husband to perform the haj pilgrimage.

In the same statement, Lembaga Tabung Haji extended its condolences to the family of the deceased and prayed that they would be granted strength during this difficult time.

The latest incident brings the total number of Malaysian pilgrims who have died in the Holy Land so far this haj season to six.

Earlier reports indicated that five Malaysian pilgrims had previously passed away, including two deaths recorded on May 14.

Lembaga Tabung Haji has consistently assured that the welfare and health of Malaysian pilgrims remain under close monitoring through medical teams and haj personnel stationed in Saudi Arabia to ensure the smooth conduct of pilgrimage activities throughout the haj season.
