Envision Energy Strengthens Canada’s Clean Energy Transition Through 300MW Hybrid Project
SHANGHAI: Envision Energy is further strengthening its position in the North American market through a strategic partnership with Cape Breton China Corp to develop a 300-megawatt (MW) hybrid wind and battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada.
The collaboration will focus on developing a net-zero demonstration project that combines wind power generation and energy storage technologies as part of wider efforts to accelerate the region’s clean energy transition.
According to Envision Energy, the hybrid system is expected to improve electricity grid flexibility and stability while strengthening renewable energy integration across Eastern Canada.
The combination of wind power and energy storage systems is also seen as supporting decarbonisation efforts while enhancing long-term energy system resilience.
The company explained that the initiative is not solely focused on building energy infrastructure but also on developing smarter, more efficient and sustainable future energy systems.
Through its integrated energy system approach, the project is expected to improve operational resilience while delivering stronger economic value for the region.
In addition to green energy infrastructure development, Envision Energy also plans to implement sustainable energy training and education programmes with local partners in Nova Scotia.
The programmes will focus on workforce development in areas such as wind energy, energy storage systems, future energy technologies and net-zero industrial park development.
The initiative aims to cultivate more skilled workers while helping establish a stronger and more sustainable clean energy ecosystem in the region.
Envision Energy senior business director for Canada Yi Zhu said the partnership reflects changes in how modern energy systems are being developed, especially as global markets rapidly move toward decarbonisation.
According to him, combining wind energy, energy storage and intelligent optimisation systems can create more flexible energy networks better suited for future demands.
He added that system flexibility has now become a crucial factor in ensuring long-term economic and environmental sustainability.
Meanwhile, Cape Breton China Corp founder Bob Liu said Nova Scotia possesses strong renewable energy resources and requires project development that closely matches local needs.
He said the partnership with Envision Energy creates opportunities for cleaner, more practical and long-term sustainable energy development in the region.
