AMK Accuses Rafizi-Aligned Group of Using Student Wing for Political Narrative
KUALA LUMPUR: Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK) has accused a group aligned with Rafizi Ramli of manipulating Mahasiswa Keadilan Malaysia (MKM) to create negative perceptions against the leadership of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR).
AMK Malaysia Exco member and New Media Bureau chief Dzul Hilmi Zainol said the narrative currently being circulated appears aimed at portraying a growing grassroots rejection of PKR president and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
According to him, the pattern of the movement raises questions about whether it is part of a coordinated effort by certain groups seeking to weaken confidence in the party leadership.
“This movement appears organised and is attempting to create the perception that grassroots members are increasingly rejecting the president and party leadership.
“However, the official statement issued by the MKM secretary clearly denied the allegation and confirmed that it was never decided through legitimate organisational channels,” he said in a statement today.
Yesterday, MKM secretary-general Aqeef Salih denied claims that the organisation had issued a statement expressing loss of confidence in PKR under Anwar’s leadership.
He said the statement that went viral online had never been officially discussed or endorsed by the organisation.
According to him, the statement was believed to have been issued by several individuals without an official mandate from MKM leadership.
Meanwhile, Dzul Hilmi described the use of student platforms for factional political interests as unhealthy and disappointing.
He stressed that university students should not become tools in internal political battles or sympathy campaigns involving party figures.
“If they are truly fighting for reform, then attacking organisations through media propaganda is not the proper approach.
“This only proves that certain groups are more focused on protecting their own camps rather than strengthening the people’s struggle and maintaining government stability,” he said.
The issue gained widespread attention after a statement circulated online claiming that the majority of MKM leaders had lost confidence in PKR under Anwar Ibrahim’s leadership.
