Eight Vehicles Caught In Klang Valley Flash Floods After Torrential Rain

KUALA LUMPUR — Flash floods triggered by heavy rain across the Klang Valley yesterday afternoon left eight vehicles stranded at several locations while causing major traffic disruptions throughout the city.

The Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department confirmed that emergency teams were deployed following reports of flooding in Taman OUG, Jalan Kuchai Lama and along the Kuala Lumpur–Seremban Highway towards Sri Petaling.

Authorities said the worst-hit location was Jalan Awan Kecil in Taman OUG, where five vehicles became trapped after water levels rose rapidly within a short period.

The Sri Petaling Fire and Rescue Station reportedly received the emergency call at approximately 4.23pm before dispatching firefighters to the affected area.

Several Roads Flooded Following Heavy Downpour

At Jalan Kuchai Lama heading towards Jalan Klang Lama, two additional vehicles were stranded after floodwaters inundated sections of the road and slowed traffic movement significantly.

The Seputeh Fire and Rescue Station received the distress call at around 3.57pm and immediately sent personnel to monitor the situation and assist road users.

Another vehicle was reported trapped inside a tunnel along the Kuala Lumpur–Seremban Highway towards Sri Petaling after water accumulated in the underpass during the storm.

Firefighters carried out monitoring operations in all affected locations to ensure the situation remained under control and to safeguard motorists using nearby roads.

Authorities Confirm No Casualties

Despite multiple vehicles being trapped and traffic conditions worsening across several major routes, authorities confirmed that no injuries or fatalities were reported in the incidents.

Continuous heavy rain beginning late in the afternoon caused flash floods at numerous low-lying areas around the Klang Valley, leading to severe congestion and temporary road closures.

Motorists were advised to remain cautious, avoid flooded roads whenever possible and stay updated on traffic conditions as weather instability continued to affect parts of the capital.

The incidents also renewed attention on long-standing flash flood issues in urban areas, particularly involving tunnels and roads prone to rapid water accumulation during intense rainfall.
